So. Calif. Spring RU 2010 - DATES

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I've created a calendar on Google where we can keep track of dates for the Spring RoundUp. I'll add everyone's "busy" dates to it - they will show up in red. Give me some time and I'll post the URL so anyone can look at it. Give me dates here and I will add them to the calendar.

Last week of May for me Kathleen..I have two birthdays that week I need to be available for. Don't know for sure when b'day parties will be, the last weekend or the next to last.

The whole month of April is good for me. Probably March as well.

Here's the URL for the calendar. I can't change the colors for the events, unfortunately, but I'll put notes in where necessary.

Let me know how it works for everyone.

I really like it.
So, we tell you, KC if we have something going on like Amy coming home, or SoCal's garden tour, weddings, birthdays, graduations and the like and you enter it onto the calendar?
March is looking good so far, and except for Spring Break April looks good.

Yep. There are a few boxes to be checked, so I think it's better if I do it. But at least everyone can look at it. For those of us 'visual' folks, it's easier.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Takes a big load off of my shoulders too! Thanks sweetie, I'm one of those 'visual folks'! : - )

I like March or April too...before it gets to hot.

Kathleen, thanks for doing this for us. :-) It's great to have someone with computer knowledge!!! lol

Anyone know when Easter weekend is next yr.? Need to cross that off the calendar too.

Thanks Pegi,
Kathleen, want to jot that date down so we know it's not avalabe?

Mother's Day and Easter weekends are blacked out.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Kathleen, I've been informed that the last weekend of May is the only one in May that's not good for me. You can re-open the second to last.

I almost didn't look at it because of the title, SW. The look on that bird's face was priceless, never mind the pain the guy was going through! Told my sis to visit the ladies room before she watched it! LOL

Thanks DP. I think someone else had a problem with that week, too, but I'll check it before I change anything.

OK, that leaves us with one Saturday in May - the 15th.

What does June look like, folks? Jules, are there blackout dates? Will it be too hot? Let me know what you think.

Hi everyone,

I thought I should make an anouncement before things get going on the next So CA RU.

I would really like to bow out of being one of the organizers of this event this year. I have been doing it for 7 yrs. now and I think it's time others have a hand at arranging this wonderful gathering.

It would be nice to be able to just attend for a change. There are many great people who have been involved in our RU's over the years and hopefully some of them will take over and maybe do it as a group.

Thank you for understanding. I would still be able to help, just not to make any major decisions.

You deserve a rest, Donna! We appreciate all you've done, but as long as you're there, we'll be happy!

The only black out date I have so far is the same as JD's. My ES turns 21 on the 28th of May. Party for him at home, although I might drag him to a bar just so I can buy him first legal drink! LOL!
Oh should mention that Blue's Concert at Doheny Beach on May 22 & 23rd this year. I really want to see BB King perform. I'm finally going to keep a promise I made to myself a couple of years ago, to go have a girls weekend out and attend the festival.
How about that second to last weekend in April? That would be April 24th. It would still give most of us time to get our "new" babies planted before the summer heat hits hard.
June Gloom sound familiar? My Wisteria sometimes has a second bloom in June. June isn't too hot, but July sure is. I do have YS's graduation sometime (still don't know when yet, but will force him to tell me!) in June.
SoCal, having planned really large events (Pow Wow's) for 10 years, I do understand the burned out feeling you can get. That's not to say you won't be missed as far as the planning and co-ordination goes. Jump in with advice anytime! You don't have to do anything else except show up and enjoy yourself. I'm really looking forward to meeting you.
Actually, I am really looking forward to meeting all of you! : - )
How does April 24th work out for the rest of you? I'm including you lurkers, too! Speak UP! We want to include as many DG members as we can. You folks from up north are always welcome too. It's a long drive, but we have plenty of room for RV's and even Tent campers. Let us know, it would be a real treat to meet some of our No. Cal. DG'ers.
Okay, I'll be quiet and let you check your calendars while I go find out when YS is due to graduate.
