I cannot believe that Emma will be 6 months in 15 days.
Here's a picture of her and her dog Chuy, some might find it disgusting but I think it's cute and no, their tongues did not touch. The other grandma made sure of that.
I think this is adorable and says so much!
Emma is almost 6 months!
Too cute!
Babies explore by tasting everything. She sure is growing fast!
Still beautiful!

So sweet, a nice image to take to bed, put a smile on my face!
And a kiss from a doggie won't kill her, I ate rabbit poo as a child, cause my sister told me they were raisins!

Love that picture!!!
I was laughing so hard when Andrea sent it to me, you're right mrscolla, a very nice image to take to bed!
Cutest thing I've seen in a long time.
She ate it all gone!

Dr Laura was saying the other day how important it is for babies to see facial expressions so they learn to communicate. I can see you are doing a wonderful job, Louise! You and Emma are both enjoying that to the max. :-)
Emma appears to be bright eyed and very alert, she also appears to be very happy. Her whole face is smiling. Even around the spoon. : - )
She is thriving. Waiting to see a toothless grin! I miss toothless grins. I bet she wiggles all over when she is all excited.
Emma is a blessing.

I agree with Dr. Laura. It's so funny though the silly things they pick up from us..where do you think she got the tongue thing?!??!?!? One of these days we'll be telling her...'Emma, quit sticking out your tongue, that's not nice.'
I do like making the goo goo faces at her!! Anything to get her to laugh!
That's the 2nd time today we crossposted SW!!
She IS always wiggling around, that's why I can't get real clear shots of her.
Her whole face does smile, will get a toothless grin for you.
I used to play games with my boys. Aside from the tummy tuba, we did a lot of arm and leg exercises with my ES. Which in retrospect was probably a mistake, and why he started walking early. LOL! We did a lot of dancing too. Music and motion.
They say that crawling is a really important stage for infants when it comes to later language development. Emma is doing fine. I took a lot of early childhood classes awhile back, and Emma is meeting all the important milestones, and in some respects, may be precocious. She is a darling!
One of my favorite games was the knee bounce accompanied by the hummed version of the theme from the old "Pink Panther" movies. Both kids liked that one. It didn't always make them giggle but they liked it.
I also used to make faces and tell them that that was a happy face, or a sad face. They seemed to enjoy it. Especially when they got older. Emma is still at the stage when she doesn't care what you say to her as long as it's said in a loving way.
I used to sing my kids this song which was from a very early Muppets Special.
Sweetums
Sweetums lie your ugly head,
down upon your wretched bed,
close your eyes and go to sleep,
don't wake up you ugly creep!
Forget the tune it was sung to, but can still sing it. They borrowed the tune and put new words to it, I think.
Didn't seem to bother the boys as long as I was singing sweetly and holding gently. Helped on some of those long nights when you wanted to wring their necks because they were teething and you were up all night with the other kid. Of course you'd never act on it but every parent feels that way at least once in a while. : - )
Honestly, don't know how you managed 5 of them weegy.
One thing is though, yawning when you see someone else do it, is a learned response. Doesn't work on babies. At least not mine.
They giggle at all kinds of things. Peek-a-boo, themselves in a mirror, rainbow colors, the tongue of their pet. Dogs lick each other to mark each other as part of the family (pack). I thought it was cute that both their tongues were sticking out at the same time. Still glad they didn't swap spit though. Ick, dog germs! Reminds of Lucy from the Peanuts cartoons. I'm giggling will that do for now? Those years go by all too fast. Enjoy while you can!

I said to someone at the RU, my favorite thing is when they discover where that ball is you put behind your back. Talk about a lightbulb going off! LOL
Playing under the blankets! When they discover that is your foot! Priceless!
My all time favorite is when they hide their face because they think if they can't see you, you can't see them! LOL! : - )

Oh, yes. And I still remember the look on my nephew's face when his feet started sinking in the sand at the beach.
Louise, on the second pic above, where you can just barely see the sideview of your face, I can just notice that you have your mouth open. Yup, we all do it when we feed the little ones....like open wide. lol
She is just the cutest for sure.
LOL Donna! As conscious as I think I am about not doing that, I still do it. I watch others feeding small babies and they all do it!! Why do we do that?!?!?!?!
Thank you Donna, we think she's the cat's meow!
SW, if you can do it with one, you can do it with 5!
Maybe so, weegy. I did seem to end up with a lot of "Summer Kids". LOL! I guess that I was just so overwhelmed when they were little and YS had all those health problems being a preemie. I feel like I didn't sleep through the night for years. LOL!
When ES gets to me I tell him, "Son, you're going to drive me to drinking if you don't stop driving that hot rod Lincoln!". He stares at me. Or used to until I forced him to listen to the song.
SoCal, but it's so cute to watch her open her mouth while feeding Emma. Kinda like sticking out your tongue while concentrating. Besides do you know of a better mimic than a baby? You have to model the behavior.
I used to tell ES that the spoon full of food was an airplane coming in for a landing in the hanger, (his mouth). Then I told him to open the hanger doors. LOL! Later on we turned into space ships docking with the mother ship. I always opened my mouth too, just to model the behavior I wanted from them. (Sounds good doesn't it!) LOL!

Not to take the fun out of it, but maybe it's 'hardwired' behavior to encourage the babies to eat?
Maybe so, KC. Seems like every one I've ever seen feed a baby does the same thing. : - )
