The spider is about a nickel in size, including legs. It is brown with a light brown stripe going down it's back. I've seen the same spider with two stripes that were light brown to white in color.
It appears to be non-aggressive, but I haven't tried to prove that. It is of average speed.
I've found them throughout the year in my Central Minnesota basement, typically on the carpet and near a wall, or near a rug in the bathroom.
Need Spider Identification
This is a wolf spider (family Lycosidae); they frequently come indoors in search for prey. Although large specimens can deliver a painful bite if mishandled, they otherwise are harmless to humans.
