Seems to me that I've heard of one before, the part where the branches first start to branch out from the trunk? The Honey Locust tree in my yard has several branches that come out at this place and it forms a nice spot for me to put peanuts for the birds.
Is there a name for this part of a tree?

G'Day
I think that is referred to as "The Crotch".

Thank you Brian. I was writing something up for the local paper and ended up referring to it as the 'crook' of the tree. I searched for tree diagrams online and never found a name at all.
