In the fall, I usually have lil baggies in my pockets .... at our campground in Wisc, there are over 400 sites... so plenty of great stuff to choose from.

There is a local outlet mall where i plan to snag a few also... I've grabbed from restaurants, way-sides and other folks yards.

They will never use the seeds & the millions of seedlings in the spring will drive them nuts. Plus, deadheading allows the plants to regenerate & use energy to develop roots for next year, so we're doing them a favor! :)

I think so to and its better over all since the birds eat them and then poop them everywhere that can cause a problem to the environment so better to be safe than sorry right, my favorite place to snatch is at daylily genders I go and take one seed head from each plant and grow them to see what they will look like and I have gotten some really nice ones and they are so expensive to buy

this year I asked the lady down the road if I could pick all of her stella d'oro seeds since I want to make a huge bed of them since they will bloom all summer with some slow release fertilizer so pretty

the only time I felt guilty was when I took seeds at the local chuch but I did say a prayer as I took them hahahha

Well, I would have taken them from the church too! I made the mistake about a month ago of doing the "right" thing and NOT taking a cutting of the OBVIOUSLY overgrown shrub (don't remember the name, but it has a variegated leaf & red bark) in front of my mom's church. When I went back a couple of weeks later with her, they had pruned the shrubs! I could have done the Lord's work AND expanded my garden at the same time!

scicciarella, wanna pass any of those DL seeds on to me? lol Not the Stellas (got tons of those & more here at my school that I can take by the book-bag full!).

I will as soon as they grow and bloom since they are all mixed up so I dont know what is what at this point I am planting them in the vegi garden late this fall so when ever they bloom and I know what they are I will pass some on no problem starting to have a pretty good collection of seeds from all kinds of different fancy ones send me dmail and keep them and check them from time to time and send stuff out as it is ready

There were some pioneers in that activity. Their adventures were chronicled in threads that I think should be at the very top of the "Classic Threads" forum.

My favorite was the lady who couldn't stand it when stores threw whole plants away into a dumpster. She would put on old clothes, go to the dumpster, jump in and rescue them - bring them home and nurse them back to life.

She was nervous once when a guy saw her doing this and walked up to her. She thoguht he mifght be a security guard. But then he just gave her a dollar, said "good luck to you" and walked away. It took her a few seconds to realize that he thought she was homeless and looking for food!

My suggestion is, if a security guard comes up to you in Home Depot, hand him the seed pods you've collected and say that you didn't know the right place to put all the BUG NESTS you found.
