CLOSED: Caterpillar on Brugmansia
This appears to be a fall webworm (Hyphantria cunea; Lepidoptera: Arctiidae). When caterpillars mature, they leave their web to find a safe place to undergo pupation. See http://tinyurl.com/ybo8r3m for more information.
