Looking for poliomintha longiflora

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I would really like to find poliomintha longiflora / Mexican Oregano.....if anyone has seen it at any nurseries in San Diego or Orange counties, I'd appreciate hearing about it......thanks..

Wish it weren't so hard to find. Aromatic, drought tolerant, flowering all summer, deer resistant, lovely soft violet-blue tubular flowers, this plant has so much going for it. Anyway, you know at least one person who's trying to work up a little block of it, so maybe by spring 2010, if you haven't found it by then?

Are you propping some? I didn't know that you acquired it....I think I'll have to drive up there for it if I haven't found it by then..
edited to add...is that prostanthera behind it? I've just started taking cuttings of the prostanthera...and behind that..Wendy's Wish? You're getting things done while I'm dawdling........

If I can get the Poliomintha going, small plants would travel nicely mailed in a little box to meet you. I'll see how I do with them and let you know when they're successful.

And yup, that's variegated Prostanthera behind, so pretty yet sturdy, and then I think that's S. 'Summer Peach' in back, the 'Wendy's Wish' is off somewhere else getting more huge and more covered with flowers by the minute.

The hummingbirds have taken over, there are so many flowers all over that they love. I just hope they let me in tomorrow to work some more, they are now in charge.

I didn't think the color was quite Wendy's Wish...I don't have Summer Peach, are you selling any mail order?

If you don't mind mail order, Morningsun Herb Farms carries it sometimes--their website seems to be out of order this morning so I don't know if they have it in stock or not, but I got it from them a couple years ago (and then managed to kill it). www.morningsunherbfarm.com

they sell them in lots of 3 and have it in stock

Thanks, guys..I checked their site a couple of weeks ago and they were out of stock on the poliomintha, checked again just now and they still say out of stock.....

Ooh, I recommend the lavender flowered one, nice to know I'm not the only one growing it. About the 'Summer Peach', wcgypsy, I'll have that in the spring too. It's really a stronger color than peach, more like the deep coral-peach parts of the skin of a ripe peach, with a yellow eye for contrast. The flowers really glow. If you don't have it, well, one should ALWAYS get more plants.

I'll second that motion!

Pearson's?! Whoopee...on my way there RIGHT NOW! I haven't gone there in a couple of years.....thanks!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks, K...went to Pearson's...got two poliominthas..AND (of course) two iboza riparia / Nutmeg Bush that I haven't encountered before and found another salvia that I don't have. Such a good day today, I've managed to not do a lick of work.....
