It is still pretty light here. But we are having lots of titmice and chickadees and the goldfinch. Yesterday I moved the thistle feeder up closer to the house in the anticipation of bad weather soon arriving. Plus...hope to maybe see a pine sisken! The chipmonks have been hibernating here. But it was so nice over the weekend that one came out for awhile and was gathering seed in the back yard. It stayed out until almost dark. It was sitting on the deck like it was really enjoying being outside!
Even the juncos have been sparse so far in the yard. But I see them in the woods and brush. Still lots of natural food available.
Why have birds abandoned my feeder?
I'm missing titmouse this year, and so far the hummers are only three males, passing by I guess.
The titmice where a surprise because they have always stayed year round, guess I wasn't paying attention. I always keep clean food out year round, but was looking at some video from last year when I notice one with a titmouse, and realized I hadn't seen any, in a good while.
Does anyone know what has happened to them?
Any advice on getting these awesome birds to come to your feeders? I have seen chickadees and titmouse come by my yard but they never come back. My yard is always covered in house sparrows and I do not want them. I do get cardinals and goldfinches and a downy, also doves but that is it. Help. How can I get more songbirds?
