Glen Riddle Lima, PA

I've been looking to invest in these for quite a while... anyone know the cheapest place to get them? i'm in zip code 19063...

thanks,

joy

Geo W. Park seed Co have them. I bought them years ago. You can buy a set of 2 of the size you are looking for, for $12.95. I like them because they are made of sturdy plastic. This company has a good supply of garden items for seed sowing .

looks like they are $12.99 each, unless there's another deal on the site. is there?

As far as I know, no. I have only seen Park selling these trays.

Indoor Gardening Supplies have the Perma-Nest 11 x 22 x 2.5 plant trays for $7.25 each (plus shipping) in green, tan, and white. http://indoorgardensupplies.com/accessories-plant-trays-c-108_111.html?osCsid=a3557d462fbaf0647177c82acce9ab10

I chose the white Perma-Nest trays, and purchased enough trays to fill all the shelves in my 24" x 48" x 6-foot chrome steel-wire shelves. I get 4 trays per shelf, although I did need to use my Dremel tool to grind out a small notch in two corners of some of the trays to allow them to fit against the round tubes of the shelves. As you probably know, the trays have a horizontal "wing" for structural rigidity, and if you want to get 4 trays per wire shelf, you need to shape the wing a little so that it can fit snugly against the round vertical columns of the shelves.

I am now in my fourth year of using those Perma-Nest trays in my chrome wire plant stands. They were bright white when I bought them, but over the years they have aged to an ivory white. I am starting some of my hybrid zinnias now for growing indoors this Winter from hybrid seeds that I hand pollinated this Summer. I will also start cuttings from some choice zinnia specimens. The trays have been quite useful for my indoor gardening under fluorescent lights.

I checked again in my 2007 Parks catalog. They are 2 for $12.95 for the size you are looking for. Perhaps their price have gone up since 2007. $12.95 each would be pretty expensive. I bought mine back in the 80's and still have them. They are long-lasting.

thanks zen man... i'm planning on getting tan ones, especially now since yours have aged to ivory over the years anyway...

they have a deal on multiple quantities.... i had seen their site before, and looks like they might have it cheapest in quantity. i overwinter about 500 cuttings a year, + seed starting, so they might be my best option.

this past year i made the equivalent of the humidity trays they sell on IGS' site... with lighting grid which i cut to size (very easy) with pliers. i elevated them with 2" plastic pots in a seed flat and put down a capillary mat and was able to have a watering system in my south-facing garden window... which usually fries plants in summer. the permanest trays would be even better underneath... more sturdy.

thanks for the tips about trimming the trays... i have the same shelf system, and it was annoying how the seed flats barely fit.

Pughbear7, you only buy once, and use for the rest of your life. Pretty cheap when you look at it that way.

I realize that they have a long life span. my issue is being married to an accountant I watch the pennies. The best deal I have seen is for 12 I think it was ...$79.00 from harris seeds.
I guess I am feeling cheap this year... but who isn't???? I love them I have 16 that came with my cart. they also sell 3 for $29.95.
I think I was infering that harris had the cart mad to fit four across without any notching.

Cape Cod Violetry. He has a phone number you can talk to John Cook. They are under $10 . Parks are outrageous. I bought from Parks a year or two ago and it was a great price, but $12+ each is crazy. This year I got them from John Cook. They are wonderful...I love these trays!

I agree $10.00 IS WAY TO MUCH... if you need them you can buy them for under $7.00 each but they are sold in a pkg of 12. like most of us I can't afford to buy 12 at one time even though I need 16 . I am planning to buy them this next year. I am planning on doing way to many plants to not have enough of them
wow what a great leed on the trays. they look like I am going to buy from them. here is their link...

I bought trays from Park and humidity domes from Indoor Gardening Supplies. Believe I paid about $5.75 per 11 X 22 tray from Park (with a qty discount)
