This has always been one of my favorite songs and I thought I would share a bit with those of you at Dave's garden. If you have never heard the song, try downloading it. They actually played it for us when I was in basic training.
If tomorrow all the things were gone I worked for all my life and I had to start again with just my children and my wife. I thank my lucky stars to be living here today cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee, across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea from Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA well there's pride in every American heart and it's time that we stand and say that
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free and I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me and I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the USA.
Lee Greenwoods God Bless the USA...
FINALLY!! Someone put him on tv. If you watch Nascar, you just had goosebumps.
Funny you should mention NASCAR, the race is here today. The race track is about a mile from me and I have only gone once. It is a mess through town, and Dover is kind of small to begin with. We don't leave the base unless it is an absoulute emergency. I think it is just as good watching it on tv as it is being there. Actually, tv is more comfortable and you can see the whole track instead of just one stretch. It was fun the one time I went...I mean, geez, how can you live in Dover and not experiance the races at least once? They pack the fans in there so tight though that you can hardly move! You can almost hear the cars from our back yard.
I don't like going to the race, but love to watch on tv. If you need to potty, you don't have to walk a mile:) and I can't stand the noise.
In that case tig, you and my neighbours will make very good buddies.....lol!! Thanks bossy, it really does move me!
Lee has a new song called 'We Will Stand". It was written Tuesday night by a friend of ours Eric Horner. 100% of the proceeds from the song will go to the American Red Cross.
Eric is a very good songwriter from Paducah,KY and now lives in Nashville. Check out his website www.erichorner.com to hear a clip from the song.
This will take you to God Bless the USA.
