Does anyone know what type of spider this is and whether it would be dangerous to small dogs and to humans. I almost walked into it today :( It's huge!!!!!!!

She can bite, but rarely does, and even then she isn't poisonous. She's peaceful and non-aggressive.

Thank you Melody for all your useful information. I guess it's not as scary as it looks and can help me with keeping some bad bugs out of my garden :)

The only time I move one is if she is blocking a path or door, and then I just move her perched atop my broom to a less traveled area. She usually settles right down in her new digs.
