Well I noticed this spider on the floor of my kitchen today, not sure how it got into the house. I've never seen a spider like this in my house before, but it seems like everyday I am being forced to remove spiders from my home or unfortunately kill them. I'm not particularly scared of spiders/insects, but I'd prefer that they're not crawling around my house. Sorry the picture isn't very good. The spider was black with yellowish/white markings on its back. It was about the diameter of a quarter from front leg to back leg.
Any information would be helpful, thanks!
P.S. I live in suburban Detroit, Michigan if that helps to identify the spider.
Need ID for this spider
This looks like it could be a Parson spider, genus Herpyllus in the family Gnaphosidae. See http://bugguide.net/node/view/130141 and http://tinyurl.com/lkxexo for images.Spiders in this family (ground spiders) are not known to be [medically] harmful to humans.
Yes, that looks like it would be the one. Thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated.
