They are just the cutest little birds!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Beautiful, clear photos once again. I'll never get tired of seeing these beautiful birds. Nice work Dave.

Mashpee, MA

Great pics of one of my favorite birds, Dave! I have them here in my yard year 'round and I consider them the resident clowns....and tattle-tails. I always know when the cat has escaped by their antics!!

Stafford County, VA

I know I should let this thread die, but I have a few from this morning to show you. Then, maybe I'll let it die.

I have more but apparently the server doesn't want me to post them. Be back later

Stafford County, VA

Still won't let me. I'll try again in a few weeks.

Maybe.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to all the Marines today
and a salute to all veterans tomorrow.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

You have such nice pictures. Please post them as you get them. This thread can live on forever since your yard has resident TT's.

Marlton, NJ

That's a real nice one Dave!

Stafford County, VA

Thanks. I will try one more time.

That's it! It won't let me post another one. Could it be the length of the thread, Pelle?

I have a lot more titmouse pics but let me stick one of my other favorites in here. Guess you could say this guy was out on a limb.

To my surprise, it took! Let me try another tuti

Here is the first one again, as he is turning to go back for another mealworm. Not an especially good shot, but somewhat unusual.

Dave, I think it would be a shame if your allowed this thread to "die". I eagerly look forward to seeing your photos of this heart-melting little bird that I don't get a chance to see. Please keep it going.

Stafford County, VA

Thank you Margaret. I guess you're dealing with a very frustrated old man. Can it be that I am the only one on DG who sits at their computer with a handfull of pics and am only allowed to upload one every several hours? I must admit it tends to be better for a while but here lately it has been the worst ever. One time yesterday I couldn't even upload an image to the Daily Pics thread.

Maybe with all this modern equipment I have become spoiled.

Maybe I should get more sleep.

Maybe I should stop complaining. Naw, that's not it

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Dave.

For what it's worth, I don't ever have the problems that you experience. Have you experienced it when you are at your MIL's house? Could it be your ISP and servers? Do you have both laptop and desktop and if so do you experience it on both machines? Have you talked to anyone with Admin. for some ideas?

Thanks for the comments, Marna.

Several things to think about. This is the only site that I use that allows us to upload images directly from the computer, so I don't have another site to compare.

Although this may be apples to oranges, It seems that servers on the receiving end can behave differently too. As you may recall, I subscribe to two online photo storage sites: PBase and SmugMug. When I upload an image to PBase, it always takes a minute or more to upload a single photo, and sometimes it will take much longer. When I upload to my SmugMug site, the speed is unbelievable (like 5 seconds each image) and I have never had it balk. In fact, I can upload whole folders with 50 or more images in a matter of a minute or so. That is one of the reasons I have abandoned PBase. I am paid up for another 18 months but I took all my pictures down so my PBase site is an empty warehouse.

I guess it could be the ISP. I really don't understand how they work. I have the super high speed cable service through Cox so I know it is fast.

I do have a laptop. It is in the kitchen and I used to use it for pictures all the time until the Boss Lady laid down the law. Maybe I can sneak back in there when she is off having her hair done or something and make the comparison. As for my mother in law's computer, I don't recall if I have had the problem there on not. She has DSL and it seems so slow (see what I mean about being spoiled) that I rarely use it to post images. But I will.

And somehow, I would feel a lot better if you and everyone else had this problem too. As they say, misery loves company and I don't like being the ony one.

But seriously, thanks for the food for thought.

First GREAT pictures Dave, I don't comment much but do look. Had problems uploading
(my pics are much smaller in size- 10 meg) and Pelle offered me some great advice
and to resize pictures to max 1000 pixels width
before sending and the upload is very good with a very few stops.
Don't know if you do that-
you are very proficient and probably do then I don't know why.
Keep up the great thread. The silent majority is out there.

Marlton, NJ

Wow Dave I love the first 3 pics! They seem perfect to me.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Try doing a ping test (speed test) and see how fast your upload speed is. This sounds like something that your ISP needs to fix.

Stafford County, VA

Test results:

Download speed: 22,630 kbps
Upload speed: 6,454 kbps
Using Washington DC server

OK Juneybug, what does it mean?

Stafford County, VA

I just tested it again, using another testing site and it said
Download 18.66 mb/s
Upload: 6.24 mb/s

ping is 10.

Greek to me.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I would think that those numbers are fine, but when you are having that problem again, you should test and compare.

I would think it has less to do with speeds than with your ISPs servers ability to interface with the DG site. But that's just speculation from a novice.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Yeah, "speculation from a novice" here too. I think that you may need to talk with your service provider like Mrs_Ed says.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

I have never had the troubles that you have had.

Titmouse on the Martin House!

I saw a bird sitting on my Martin house the other day and just knew it had to be one of those notorious House Sparrows but upon closer inspections found it to be a Tufted Titmouse. Guess he was just resting between trees

Super Shots Dave! Congrats on the contest again, you are one of the very best here at DG no doubt, and your bird's all look healthy and happy too.

PERTH, Australia

Gorgeous, as always, Dave. That first shot looks as if it should be named the Double-crested Titmouse.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Dave, you have a wonderful collections of TT pics in this thread! I have always had trouble getting good shots of these guys, too, because they don't "hang out" on the feeders as some do.

I managed to get this snap yesterday, though when I found a good hiding place near a Holly that they like to hide in. First time I think I've gotten a clear one that wasn't pecking on a seed or staring at me with an angry look. LOL.
Just had to share. Hope it's ok?
