Plant & Seed Trade List In Plantfiles

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I disabled most of my list (150+ haves) after the first warm weekend when I had ten or more unsolicited trade requests. :D

Of course, I am happy to trade - I was just a little overwhelmed at the time with my own seed and plant collection.

Here we go again! I have a lot of rare, hard to find and unusual plants and people who want them are missing out because there are so many "not for trade" in their have list. I refuse to go through Have lists with every other entry labeled not for trade and I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Thank you, X...it is frustrating when looking for a specific plant...seems as if the educational process never ends...

When someone asks me to look through their list and I see the first "NFT" I just stop right there....LOL

I have encouraged acquaintances to remedy this, but even some seasoned members/traders use the list as an inventory. I find the journal more than adequate for that purpose.

There is really no excuse since you can disable an entry in your list and it will still be visible to the member, whose list it is, but not the public that is searching the list.

I don't disagree. Most of my own list is disabled. I don't know how to educate people more broadly.

Xeramtheum,

How can you do any trading with only 1 item available?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Did you read the 1 item? I stopped listing my plants because people were getting down right abusive when I wouldn't trade them rare, unusual or hard to find plants or seeds for something like a marigold or shasta daisy. One person actually gave me bad feed back because I wouldn't give them free seeds.

That said, you have something in my "want" list and I'll send you a link to my "have" list.

Litchfield, NH(Zone 5b)

Ha! No, obviously I didn't read the 1 item, because as some people have said "If I'm reviewing someone's Have List and I see "Not for Trade" I stop right there", If I have something that someone wants but they only have 1 item on their list, I stop right there.

I guess there's flaws in both those systems.

I try to review what I have active and available, usually in the fall, after I am done walking and choosing what needs to go elsewhere. I am about to do that, adding and subtracting. Thanks for the reminder. I have also noticed the inventories.

Think I will unwatch this thread now as the semantics are killing me. : D

wow, I just dropped down to 56 active items , LOL
