What would you wish for?

(Zone 8a)

What would you wish for if you died and went to heaven and could have 5 wishes granted to come true and change what you could?

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

My five wishes would be that God would eliminate:
all the bad guys (and folks who knowingly don't follow His word),
poverty,
health problems of every kind,
hatred,
and give each of the people who remain a heart filled with love and peace.

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Prissy, Are these 5 of anything in particular? Let me think..not in this order.

1. That my hubby came with me
2. That I could direct a huge choir of angels
3. That my feet would be the same size (long story)
4. That the world would treat everyone equal..and I don't mean woman's lib either
5. Oh, this may sound selfish but they are my wishes. I wish for a big snowmobile. I know, that sounds silly. But I love snow and playing in it. aka Sledder!!

Prissy,,,this is tough. Okay, here's one for you. If you could be anywhere in the world for only 24 hours where would you be? Mine? I'd be in Disney World. You?

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 5b)

1) For global peace and harmony among all the nations, peoples and religions of the world, an end to wars

2) An end to human suffering of all kinds no matter what the cause such as illness, poverty, hunger, etc.

3) A global awareness and safe environmental practices, our environment is a fragile ecco system that can be easily damaged with long term consequences, this includes not just the environment but all of animal and plant life (except bindweed, lol)

4)For myself, wisdom, and the ability to share that wisdom to have a positive impact on my family, friends, coworkers, etc.

5) Five more wishes! LOL!

Good morning ~

Well, I'm not going to heaven as I'm one of the folks who knowingly don't follow His word (not meant spitefully, although it's a true statement ;-) ... however, I can relate to the sentiment so:

1. I'd wish that the horrible events of Sept 11th never occured

2. That my husband would firmly decide not to re-enlist in the US Marines

3. That my children and your children and everyone's children could grow up in a peacful world and be friends

4. That Nature, the Laws of Physics and Human Beings could all co-exist without driving eachother crazy

The 5th wish, I am very lucky to say, has already come true - I have a wonder family and good, true friends ... and, of course, Dave's Garden ;-)

And Sledder, I'm with you - I'd want to be in Disney World - probably in the Epcot Center - oh, heck, in just all of it!

Blessings and good thoughts to you.

5 wishes

1
thant my family could learn to change the toilet roll

2
that my family could learn to pic up after themselves...
3
that my family could learn to change the toilet roll...
4
that I could stop obsessing about the toilet rolls...

5
that we could all learn that God really is love, and that love is patient, love is kind is not envious and so on..... you know? God loves those who dont follow his word even though they do know?! and maybe they dont really KNOW like God wants them too and will in time... lets not get rid of them.... lets love them and win them back.

LOL, laura - I have the same problem with the toilet roll, too!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I guess my first wish would be to undo any harm or offense I had made during my life.

That those who knew me would spend more time celibrating my life than mourning my death.

That those I leave behind will live long and happy lives.

That I could look down upon the earth and see it flourish with love and kindness with no predjudices and hatreds.

And that once all that is done I could go back and enjoy it all!

Dover, DE(Zone 7a)

Ok, so this is after I died right? Ok, here goes:

1. I wish my family and friends would remember me with smiles and not tears.
2. I wish that no parent would ever have to feel the pain of losing their child before their life has really even begun.
3. I'd wish that love was color-blind and that it was realized each person, regardless of race has something unique about them.
4. Bye Bye cancer, diabetes, heart disease, parkisons, alzhemiers, MS, down syndrome ect ect ect ect....
5. Geez, I have to fit everything else into this last one huh? Ok, harmony in the world. Maybe we wouldn't all have the same view but we would respect that of our neighbor.

If I could spend the day anywhere, where would it be? hhhmmm, tough one. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I would love to see that!

I wish that

Everyone would respect and accept each others differences and I mean all differences. You don't have to agree to accept and value.

Everyone would see that today is unique and there to be lived and not wasted in hate, hurting and boredom.

Everyone value what is of true value such as water, family, food, companionship, our environment etc and stop wasting their time in wanting what has no real value.

Everyone to see that truth and love has a place everywhere regardless of differences.

Everyone has the courage to be who they are and not what is expected of them.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

1) Tolerance for other religions
2) Tolerance for other races
3) Tolerance for those who have less money
4) Tolerance for the space our natural world needs
5) Tolerance for the old

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I had the perfect day today, and didn't even have to die. I went to a Catholic church, lent to an Evangelical parish. I was surrounded by family and new friends, white, black and bi-racial. The people ranged from homeless to people of means and people of different religions and from other churches. We prayed together, sang together and even danced a bit. Then we all shared the Baptism of my niece. After that we all shared a meal together. My family is healthy. I was able to see my week old niece for the first time. I didn't hear any bad news today. The sun is shining and we are supposed to get rain tonight. I know things could be better a lot of places, outside the little bubble I was in, today, but it could have been a worse day. :)

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

Well, I have to say, I'm a little disturbed by this statement "My five wishes would be that God would eliminate: all the bad guys (and folks who knowingly don't follow His word),"

1. Define BAD-- we ALL have dishonest and mean streaks in us at times, and we ALL fall short of the glory, despite the fact that we are basically good people. How far into "BAD" do we expect God to cull? I mean, murderers, career criminals, etc are a given, but what about those good folks who occasionally do bad (sometimes REALLY bad) things? Do they deserve our compassion or our condemnation?

2. I guess I would be one of those who don't knowingly follow his word, but I'm thinking I would present a bit of a dilemma to those who might want me eliminated. I believe in a "Higher Power"-- I don't call him God, but the Spirit is a tremendous comfort to me at times, and I go to the Spirit with my burdens. However, I have come to think of the Bible as just so many outdated words on a page and too often it is sadly used as a weapon to pound people over the head. I also think that organized religion has lost it's focus and is corrupted by greed and ego. So...what to do with me? A believer with unorthodox beliefs? And of course, you have just eliminated a huge portion of the world who don't "follow his Word" because they are not Christian, but are some other religion.

To tell you the truth, I find little bits and pieces of other religions quite attractive. I love the oneness with nature of the Wiccans and the Druids, the peace of mind of the Buddhists and the Quakers, the industry, love of community, and patience of the Amish. I don't want to live in a world where everyone thinks and believes the same thing. It is our diversity that makes us strong and has allowed us to become the greatest nation in the world.

I am also one of those folks who won't wish away the bad things of this life. These are the things that make us strong and unbreakable as individuals. I have been shaped and molded into the human being that I am, for ill or good, by the trying and painful experiences that I have been through in my life. I have grieved, made mistakes, and been frustrated and each time I have done this, I have emerged from my pain a better person. If things in your life go well for you all of the time, what do you learn? Nothing.

I am not trying to cause an argument here, just put forth a different point of view.

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I've been thinking hard about this... I don't know if I have 5. I guess learning to be content with what you've got puts things like wishes in a new perspective.

I'll try to add some if I think of any more.

1. That we'd learn to not judge others before knowing them.

2. That we'd learn from mistakes the first time, instead of making them over and over and over (as people, and as a nation).

3. That we'd all learn to have fun doing what we do - no matter what that is. Work, family, hobbies, all of it.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

(IndaShade, you said so much that I have thought but don't always say.) I guess I would wish that those who think they know would first study for themselves, and then objectively evaluate what they learned and put it into action. I have studied religions for many years, and concluded most of their staunchest supporters are basing their beliefs on second hand "knowledge", and never heard of the Trent Council or looked into the Dead Sea Scrolls or any of the events that produced the set of rules and beliefs they accept as gospel. They believe because someone told them in a convincing manner. So I would wish that everyone would become more responsible about what they believe, and give it the effort it deserves so it is truly understood. I don't believe heaven is a place as we know places, so I can't conceive of being there in the popular sense, but I do believe there is a higher power, and I do believe we have a soul that survives this body. I would wish to know what my role is, or was, as assigned by the One doing the assigning, and I would wish for myself to have fulfilled that role. Then I would wish to comfort and protect from all unnecessary harm the people I left behind. As for changing things, I would redesign certain minds, but leave it to you, Prissy, to figure out which ones.

Longview, TX

1. honor and serve the Lord as He has planned
2. have the virtues of the "fruit of the spirit"
3. learn to live life as if every day would be my last, and have no regrets
4. to love others as God sees them
5. give and receive love in it's capacity in romantic, family, and non-family roles

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

I would only need to use one of my wishes:
That all mankind live in peace, loving one another.

Everything else will take care of itself!

My Motto Is and Always Has Been -
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 5b)

First of all, I don't think we'll have to wish for anything in heaven. I mean it is heaven, right? But since I'm not there yet, I hope there are a lot of gardens, my 1958 slant- o-matic Singer sewing machine and it wouldn't be heaven unless my brother is riding his Harley.

It is so hard for me to pick just five, so I'll just say love, peach and happyness for everyone.
