Remember Patrick Swayze

It's all over the news that Patrick Swayze passed away today, Monday, September 14th, peacefully with his family at his side.

I think we should all take a moment to honor a great actor.

He was an icon for sure, they don't make em like that anymore.

I just read that there's a memoir book coming out on the 29th about his life and his last month. He got to read and approve it before he passed.

There was a really nice article and pix in this week's "People" magazine. The photo of him taken just last month shows him looking really, really good. But, I wonder how much makeup they had to use. In any case, I don't think he looked a month away from death. His marriage seemed to be such a wonderful one; he and Lisa were a very close couple. She will miss him terribly.

I watched Dirty DAncing last night. I didn't cry the 5 times I've seen it. Last night? Niagara Falls!!!

It struck me bad when I watched the Emmys. There was a tribute to those that passed away this year.
When Patrick's face was on the screen, tears just trickled down.........
Why do I feel this way about an actor. I think it's his humanity and his love for his wife.
I'll definitely honor a great man.

I need to pick up a People Magazine. I would love to read those articles.

I feel the same way. I think it's because of that interview Barbara Walters had with him recently and he's such a real person, as Lisa is too. There's no chip or anything, he was just living the life. They're a very close couple and this is going to be extremely hard for her. She was the first person I thought of when I heard of his passing. We lost a great one.

They remind me of me and my dh. No one can explain the hurt and lonelyness of losing your soulmate after having them by your side for that many years.Faith and constant prayer and good friends are the things that help you through. My heart goes out to Lisa as she doesn't have kids to be strong for.

FYI, they are gonna have a tribute to Patrick tonight on Dancing with the Stars. Its on channel 3 ABC in my area at 8:00 pm. Check your tv guide. Today is Sept.22.

I don't watch that show.. but I will tonight.

Yea I agree, it was awesome but then again, I don't think anyone can do it like he did.

They made a day of tribute close to my county where Patrick made Dirty Dancing this past weekend. I took the boat tour a couple of years ago and got to see where it all took place

So, that was NC? My DH was asking where it was filmed.

Yes in NC kwangin, a little town called Hendersonville and the lake was "Lake Lure" we frequent it often in the summer months for lake swimming and the kids love the little water park they fixed up just a couple of yrs. ago. Sweet shops and boat rides and rentals not to mention the awsome homes with mountain flowing fountains that run into the lake that you can see in the coves by boats. If you are ever this way need to visit and for an extra delight, do it in the fall because the colors there is unreal like a fairytail land.

We've been there in Nov. It's just lovely. My DH has a sister in...in...DANG!!! I can't remember! LOL It's somewhere near Raleigh. They used to live in Wilmingtom but after Hurricane Hanna, which didn't really affect them, they moved northwest.

yes me and dh and friends always hit the parkway at the peak season and ride through lake lure every yr beautiful ride.Motorcycle rides were fabulous, loved the curvy roads.

Haven't been much of anywhere outside of here so love to hear what other states are like at different times of year. The time zones are really interesting to me.

Crissy, my brother lives not too far from Lake Lure where Dirty Dancing was filmed. His boss now owns Johnny's car. The one he broke the window in the back. It has a small plaque on the inside of the driver's door telling about the film and certifying the car as the one used. Neeless to say he is very proud of it. The Lake Lure area is very beautiful and my brother loves living there.
