viruses coming in with regular e-mail, not just as attatchments

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

I am putting this here, because, as a non-computer type person, I never check the computer forum. My housemate let me know that 3 messages came in, today alone, that the Norton Anti-virus, caught and tossed out. She said that she has had to update the virus proofing daily for the past several days. As most of my correspondence is with garden trades, I thought I would check to see if other people are experiencing the same with their computer virus protection set-ups. If you do not have one, I urge people to do so, the new "hackers" have sent out stuff that you can unknowingly pass on , in your regular mail (not just attachments) and have no notion that you are infected --the infection spreads into the hard drives of your machine and the people you are corresponding with. It seems the people most at risk, are like me, at a number of web-sites ( garden, craft, book, e-Bay etc. I sure would like to get my weed whacker to work on those hackers! I am going to check with family members too. With the wedding coming up, their messages may have been the ones tossed into the virus trash. marcia

I have Norton also which checks all my e-mail.Luckily I haven't had any viruses sent to me for a while although about 3 months ago I got sent three viruses within one hour.I wouldn't be without virus protection.
