Hello,
I live in the okanagan in British Columbia and found this spider in my garden in the late evening. It is fairly large. Does anyone know what type it is and if it is poisonous?
Thanks
CLOSED: What type of spider is this??
This is a female orb-weaving spider (family Araneidae) in the genus Argiope; likely the banded argiope; Argiope trifasciata - see http://tinyurl.com/nmxyav
With the exception of one small family (Uloboridae), all spiders are venomous, but only a very few species are truly dangerous to humans. This one is not one of those; all orb weavers are harmless to humans.
