I love the teeny plants but sometimes, well ... most of the time, I don't do well with the little ones. I do still have a Chirita tamiana and the Micro Mini Sinn.

I've killed so many small ones, mostly AV's and a few Sinningia's. I don't have any AV's left and I gave up on trying to keep Strep's alive. I just never could figure out what they liked. My very first Strep came from a DG'er named Starfly, I haven't seen her around DG in over a year. She sent me Dibley's Gwen and it was so pretty. It was a small plant, not like some of the huge, gorgeous ones I see y'all post pic's of but it was so pretty. Someday I might try to grow one or two again but I'd have to really think hard on that since I don't really want to drag out stands and lights again, my house is just too small and cramped.

Susan, I can't believe how much you paid for that Plumie you posted the picture of. It is absolutely stunning but Wow! I guess I am just not an avid plant person like some, I can't imagine paying more than $20 for a plant of any kind, LOL. I was on the Beginner Plant Forum earlier and a lady there paid $80 for a Passiflora ... must have been something really special to pay that kind of bucks! I guess I am a bit frugal when it comes to spending money for plants.

Ok, I will have to look for a plant food/fertilizer with a really high middle number for feeding next summer. I have Orchid Bloom Booster but it's middle number is 36. I used the beer formula fertilizer on a bunch of stuff this summer, including the Plumies and it burned a couple of them so I only used it once.

Gail, I guess you saw the country boy one AGT? I was stunned, although I know Barbara Padilla will have a major career!

G'nite y'all!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I paid that for several of my larger trees... Now the ones from Thailand and Singapore cost me more then twenty dollars just for the shipping... It really got out of hand... So I am happy to have a flower I don't have to rob the bank for.... Those plumerias in the big pots will never leave my home except when I have to trim them... Then I will share... They don't really like it here and they grow much slower then say in your state or Texas....But I had people share with me so I try to pass it forward.... I did not just want to give to anyone and them turn around and sell it...that to me would take the fun out of it... I say when the plant is big enough to cut pass it forward...
Ok pills are working so night for realy this time.
Hugs,
Susan

Lin, I am horrified that Barbara Padilla didn't win. There is no comparison between the two singers in either talent or personality. You are right.........Barbara already has a career with this exposure. What are people thinking when they vote? I don't know.

We are having our state convention in November. (the first week)
Therefore, I pledge to not order another plant anywhere for any reason (except maybe FRed)!!!

Here is what arrived today and I am still drooling over Optimara Little Moonstone.
My only concern about these minis is that they should have been controlled in 2" pots..........(but I don't care)

Where is everyone tonight? I wanted an ooh and aah on the Optimara Little Moonstone (LOL)........going to bed early tonight as I still have at least 75 leaves to plant in the morning before I head out to the grocery store.

Does anyone else wait until there is not a morsel of food in the house to go grocery shopping?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Ooh, O. Little Moonstone! Aah, very nice blooms!

Seriously, though, very pretty. Did that get shipped in a 3oz solo? I may be getting back into mini's myself, though not as much as standards . . . I bought leaves for Shirl's Hawaiian Lei yesterday . . .

Speaking of the convention . . . I need to start reading my judging manual . . .

Atco, NJ

Wow, Gail! Save me a leaf from Rob's Scrumptious. Love that one! Who were these from?

Rob's Scrumptious is just divine! I just threw mine in the trash the other week- I burned it to death.:(

OOOh..... aaah.....LOL at sons house..... Lynn will try and call you this weekend.. .Sorry I missed you again... we are playing phone tag...LOL
I hate to look at your pictures Gail as I then say oh maybe I could grow some av's!!!! Like NOOOOOOO..... Really beautiful pictures.... I love all the different colors...

Of course I can't grow african violets like this!!! These came from David Thomspon and he has never used a solo cup in his life. They come in 2 1/2" green square pots.

Pat, you know I will save leaves and stick them, too!!! I am loving putting down all of Fay Wagmann's leaves because she uses the computer like David thompson does in marking all of them. I just take the computer tag off and tape it on the little one ounce pot I am sticking the leaves on. Then I know who the hybridizer is, etc.

Glad you are having fun at your son's house, Turtlechi!!!!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

OOOOh,Ahhhh,Wowie.....LOL

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You all are so funny!!!! That is the response I wanted (LOL)

Isn't it simply amazing what someone can do with a little mini like Optimara Little Moonstone. I couldn't do that in a zillion years!!!!

Gail, I absolutely LOVE that Opt. Little Moonstone! It truly may be one of the most beautiful AVs I've ever seen! :o) Congratulations on getting such a beauty. I'll expect a leaf or baby plant... LOL ;o)

Hey Gail, I have a few pictures to post, but this thread is too long. Would you like to start a new one with your 'Moonstone' or would you like me to start a new one? :o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh........thank you I will start a new thread with Moonstone................not sure how to do it............I will just start a new thread and you can do the rest of the linking from this thread. OK???????

Ok! :o)

TurtleChi/Susan: Thanks for letting us know about Dimmer/Kim. I put a card in the mail to her today. Sure hope she is doing okay and recuperating nicely at home. I'm sure it helps having her mom there! Keep us posted if you hear from her.
