Thanks, Kelli.

When we bought our home, I had a list of GOT TO GO stuff....Every room in the house save for the foyer and front bathroom were painted battleship gray (very depressing)

the Foyer and front bathroom were painted dried blood red...very creepy...no one cared to be in that room cuz it gave you a headache it was so oppressive. (a la Stephen King)

The carpet through-out the house appeared to be a frosted silver color....very pale and almost reflective...until we discovered that it was a patina of carpet shampoo sitting on top of what turned out to be ....you guessed it...battleship gray carpeting.

The cabinetry in the kitchen was an off white color and everything was sticky...imagine my surprise when I washed the cabinets and the paint started bubbling and peeling off to reveal...yup, battle ship gray enamel...on the cabinets and every bit of woodwork in the house....we haven't figured out yet if the previous owners were Navy ship afficianados , or belonged to the Clan of the Cave Bear. grin

Every electrical outlet was installed up side down and a number of exterior outlets were run by using extension cord from the breaker box to the outlet.....and the patio cover was held up with landscape timbers....

These folks obvious never watched HGTV or the DIY network....GRIN

Are you sure the government didn't remodel after a hurricane, LOL!
Sounds real lovely.

At least if the gov't had remodeled, they would have left the woodwork gray too....that has been the hardest part...getting white latex out of all the grooves....

Besides, down here Government remodeling is a cheery blue tarp on your roof...or a formaldehyde filled box on wheels.

LOL MOON! That was good! You made me spit soda out my nose!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Funny, true and terribly sad. Four years down the road and there are still blue tarps that had to be replaced after Gustav.....we have seen many and varied abuses of government programs here and aid not going where it was needed the most. just another snafu with the government gumball machine.....

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well at least when someone asks you how to spell your name you're not forever stuck with "Yes just like the hurricane"

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

What is it with the blue tarps anyways? People around here use them, too. I mean, can't they at least make them some kind of normal roof color like brown? With the blue, they might as well put up a neon sign, "Yes, folks, we have a leaky roof".

lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

After storms, the blue tarps are usually free. They must be the cheapest ones.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

They are cheap. Brown tarps cost twice as much. Of course they are heavier & last longer!
