Hey I have had quite a few giant house spiders go through my basement suite, but this is the meanest one i've encountered thus far. I can't seem to find a similar picture online, and am curious if this is a dangerous spider and what it is. Can anyone please help in identifying it? I live In Victoria, BC Canada. Thanks in advance for any help.
CLOSED: What is this mean bugger?
Also I should add that it's about an inch in around in all ways, and about .5 inches in height. If that helps at all.
This appears to be Antrodiaetus pacificus, a foldingdoor trapdoor spider (family Antrodiaetidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/mzh95w. Males often will wander quite some distance in search of mates, and thus accidentally find themselves indoors. They have very poor eyesight, and react defensively to anything that might be a threat. In spite of their appearance, they are harmless to humans.
Thank you for your reply, you certainly are correct from what i've seen on the net. Thanks again, I can stop worrying :)
