I'm pretty sure he's a harmless grass spider, but I'm not very good at these type of things, and it appears he shares some characteristics of a hobo.

CLOSED: Spider Identification
This is indeed one of the so-called grass spiders in the family Agelenidae; it appears to be in the genus Agelenopsis - see http://tinyurl.com/m77dpt for an image.
