DayLillies

Sumner, IA(Zone 4b)

Are day lillies resistent to round-up? I assume because they are a bulb, they would be. I would like to spray them to kill all of the different grasses that is growing in them. Any ideas?

Daylilies are fleshy rooted perennials, not bulbs. I've never tried using Round Up to kill daylilies but you might want to ask the folks on the Daylily Forum.

That's funny!! I thought all lillies were bulbs, shows how much I really do know!

We're all here to learn.

Why don't you try cutting your daylily foliage back a little. That way you can see what's going on between the clumps and you can start weeding out the grass. It's not going to hurt them to cut back, but I'd mulch the bed when your finished, especially if you have some semi-evergreen DL's in there.

Round-up is nonselective...it will kill anything it gets on.
