I love my V. bonariensis and would like to insure its return next year. Since it is not hardy in my zone 5 climate I would like to take a few seeds for insurance. My problem is I am not sure what they look like. Can anyone help me locate/identify the seeds on my plants? Many thanks!

Wait until the flower looks about dead, and the stem right below the flower will probably start to turn tan/brownish, too. Crumble the seedhead.
