Rose hip and seed question!

When you start to see that lump after a rose has bloomed, how long does it take for it to change to a red rose hip with seeds?

I'm not sure I can answer your question exactly but....
the rose hips will develop as the flowers fade and should be ripened to red about this time in the fall. it is actually best to wait until after a freeze to collect them. You must let the flower fall naturally from the rose bush.

Thanks for the link. I was thinking about picking the hips for seeds rather than eating them. But that is good info to know!
