This has to be my favorite since I started learning dragonflies. Can anyone tell me what it is?

There are four species in the genus Sympetrum (Odonata: Libellulidae) that can have this general appearance. This one more likely is Sympetrum rubicundulum, known as the ruby meadowhawk - see http://tinyurl.com/qdleyg and http://tinyurl.com/nz5x94
