Hey, why don't you try that with Chris?
Birding at the New Jersey shore
What the heck is that in the last pic? Paper?
An orange plane is flying with a trailing advertisement on it. :-)
OK, I see the plane now. Thought that bird maybe had dropped the paper at first. This is a wonderful thread. Too bad neither of us had an interest in birdwatching when I lived up there:(
Really!
An orange plane is flying with a trailing advertisement on it. :-)
I'm sure I'll see that plane and LOTS more at the Dover race end of this month. That's what you DON'T see on the TV coverage.....
Great sighting Pelle. love the photos. The Barn Swallow are very sweet.
Pelle, what beautiful images. Stunning. Your love of the area really shines through. The shots of the juvenile Barn Swallows is just so enchanting. Thank you. Can't wait for your next trip down there.
Stone Harbor look's well taken care of, glad they have sign's up to protect the nesting area's, beware to those who cross the line, its a felony. Very nice Pelletory!! Your 2nd Snowy Egret pic is beautiful!
Great photos pelle. I really enjoying seeing the barn swallows - first time for this novice.
How far did you have to walk to get all those pics?

Thanks guys!
Hi Margaret, I have loads more photos from Cape May to show in a few more threads. I'm way behind. :-)
Hi Burd, Yes Stone Harbor is a gorgeous place, not a bad spot to it. I was so happy to see all they had done for wildlife at the point.
Hi Hack, The Wetlands Institute is not a far walk after you park in their lot. The path starts out on ground then goes into a wooden pier as it goes over the wetlands. I drove to Stone Harbor Point and that area is not a real long walk either compared to other areas. Here is a photo gallery from the Stone Harbor site. Along with many other birds it shows the Snowy Owl that was at the point last winter.

The Wetlands Institute has a lot of educational programs for adults and school children. In this photo from their site you can see part of the path the people are walking on. It starts out on dry land then as it goes over the marshes it is a wooden pier till you end up at the dock over the bay.

Nice pics, pelle. Glad to see you got a Glossy Ibis. Certainly looks like a great spot.
Have you considered stopping by the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge on your way to Cape May ? I was there a long time ago when it was known as Brigantine NWR. As I recall it should be an excellent spot also. Anyway, I may have asked you before.
Loved your pics Pelle!! Snug, :p)
Thanks for sharing pelle. Stone Harbor - sure appears to have a great diversity of bird life.
Above here is a place called Callaway Gardens, I may visit there soon.

Oh my Pelle, the photos are so good! I loved that Willet photo-I've never heard of them, and I adored the Snowy Egret in the grasses. The Swallows are just such sweet birds and you've captured them beautifully. What a great trip you had!! I'm so glad you took the time to post of these great photos for us.
Thanks everyone.
Hi Linth, Yes I definitely want to get to Brig. NWR but I would prefer to have company instead of being by myself. The Roseate Spoonbill is still there with loads of Heron's,Egret's,Ibis and many more. A Merlin was seen yesterday.
At Cape May Point State Park, officials from the Cape May Bird Observatory have begun counting migrating hawks from the Hawk Watch platform. It's a great time down there.
Wow Pelle...such great shots of some great birds. So many of them I have never seen and probably never will...unless I win the lottery and can go wherever I want! I especially love the huddling Barn Swallows...so cute that it needs to be framed! Ours have left also and I miss them very much.
Looking forward to more shots from your trips...lucky you...jealous me!!
Thank you Rose! Their is plenty more to come.
Thanks, pelle, I never get down the shore.
