CLOSED: Does Anybody Recognize This Little Guy

Blairstown, NJ

He's small - about 3/8", walks away from the camera very fast - but I thought his coloring was so pretty. Can anyone tell me what it is? I found it hiding under my garden trowel.

It's a nymph of an assassin bug (family Reduviidae) in the genus Pselliopus - pretty sure it is, anyway.

Thank you for your help, Claypa. I searched my entire guide front to back and over again and couldn't find anything that even resembled this. In going back any looking after your identification, I see that they only list a few nymph species. Is there any publication that you know of that deals more extensively with nymphs. How can you possibly learn to identify them.

I would start with the references cited on the bugguide page. Your agricultural extension might be able to help. Then again, it might be impossible without a microscope and a degree in entomology and some very expensive books.

I guess we're really lucky to have this site. I always try my hardest to make the identification on my own, but when I can't you guys never let me down. Thanks for willingly sharing your expertise.
