Opinions for Blue Flowering Spring Bulbs

South Hamilton, MA

Daffodil foliage looks horrible when it starts to die back, but that doesn't stop me from planting them.

Thomaston, CT

Missed your beautiful collages, Patti! Meredith, great thread---I'm always trying to get more blue into the beds. Glory of the Snow is my fave for spring---& it's slowly multiplying for me.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

meredith i went to costco in nashua today and they have bags of bulbs on sale - got some blue crocus and Muscari

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone, my internet connection hasn't worked in days, so I'm finally able to check out this thread again. Wha that's great they had those there. Hope they give you a good show in spring! : )

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

wha, I bought two bags of bulbs at Costco, too. I think they were $12 for thirty bulbs (which sounds too cheap to me so I hope they bloom.) Might go back and get more...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

tabasco I find Cosco bulk here are a pretty good deal for the price. You should get a good show. I also get their begonia corms in the spring (although onewish cleans out the NA supply of my fav orange ones first :- tee hee onewish).

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I don't have a cosco membership, I did at one time, but I never end up going enough for it to be worth it. I think I've tried all of them Sam's, Bj's .. just never get there. Plus I don't have anywhere to keep all the huge boxes of stuff.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i'm heading there today to get a big box of beer :)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I will always be eternally jealous that y'all can buy refreshing beverages just about everywhere. We are very anal about refreshing beverages sigh.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

DH is from Pennsylvania and they can only buy beer at the beer store or a bar, not the grocery store like we can. I filled out a survey for Wegmans to be able to sell wine in the store, that would be convenient. I'm at Wegmans 1-2 times a week, the liquor store much less frequently.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

We can't buy beer just anywhere either.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

same in mass - i shop in NH the live free and drink state so everyone who has a store can basically sell wine on beer.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Walmart has beer, wine and coolers, no hard stuff.
K-Mart, same thing and Shaws only carries wines and beer too. Shop N' Save (Hannaford) has everything, and I mean everything!.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Wha I think living in Mass within a certain amount of miles of the NH border the laws are even better than in NH. I used to live in Dracut and the Hannaford's near my house had a full liqour aisle. I never saw that in any other Hannafords, and I've shopped at a few. I actually think it is much more of a pain to get hard liqour up here. In Ma there was always a liquor store or two or three very close by and they were all open until 11pm now I have to get to the State liquor store by 6pm! And only one is open on weekends. Of course it's the one farthest away from me. I saw on the news that there might be a huge increase on MA tax on liquor, is that still happening?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is true meredith although not an issue here as we do not drink hard liquior except for the occasional ceasar (bloody mary with clamato instead of t-juice) during football season with a bowl of shrimp on sunday afternoons - hey that's tomorrow!! :)

Sounds good Bill!

South Hamilton, MA

sales tax increased from 5% to 6.25%. Why do they always have to play with decimils instead of whole numbers.

Thomaston, CT

CT has only beer in grocery stores, no sales of alcohol on Sun. & liquor stores must close daily by 8pm----and the taxes are being raised---that said I only buy beer & wine to use in recipes, so it's no incovenience to me--well, the CT sales tax is!

wha you are a Canuck in disguise?. Caesars are Canadian and invented in Cowtown to boot. One of our best inventions methinks. Along with Blueberry Tea.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut it was a canuck who gave me my first one - i like them much better than with t-juice - they are lighter and besides i like clamato juice.

the island of pei is infested with relatives on my mothers side.

"Why do they always have to play with decimals instead of whole numbers."

- So they can round it off to the next highest cent without being too obvious.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I was up at the family cottage in Canada in August and my Canadian niece and her BF had a "Caesar" every night. I was surprised that I never heard of a "Caesar" before. It is the rage of the college kids up there. I would have thought a drink from Cowtown would be made with Prairie oysters rather than clams.

But a Bloody Mary made with Clamato has always been called a "Cape Cod Bloody Mary" here or a "Seaside Mary" I assume a "Caesar" is the same thing. We always just substituted about half of the tomato juice with regular bottled clam juice and used more lemon juice and some Old bay seasoning along with all the other regular goodies. I hate any kind of Bloody Mary made with V8. Patti

South Hamilton, MA

Like gasoline at 2.69/9 Who are they fooling?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yea... that's a funny one! lol!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Bloody Mary's are excellent with brunch .. especially when nursing a hangover! I speak from past experience of course. I am no longer much of a drinker but in my younger days I had mt fare share! : ) Now I mostly drink Kahlua and milk or on special occasions Pina Coladas. mmmm

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I have always believed that refreshing beverages should make you happy however you continentialize them ^_^

Thomaston, CT

Sigh---cocoa and tea for me, with an occasional fruit juice spritzer---not too exciting.

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Any one got an answer to this question.

How did a nice discussion about Blue Flowers turn into a "AA" Meeting ??

Have a Great Evening,
John

I don't think there has been a thread started here that we have stayed on topic.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So let's talk about red flowers?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Lol!! Come on Victor, you don't have any red flowers for hummingbirds??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Some orange. No red. I do like red foliage though. Go figure.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

I can hear them from here.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

This is one red I like, it's a deeper darker red and the white outline is a bonus. ^_^

For a bright red, this one captures my eye. It has an almost purple hue to it and looks like velvet.
