Tersa Sphinx Moth cat

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ah, so the Tersa Sphinx moth can look either green or brown? No wonder I put some brugs' and Sassafras leaves inside the Pavalon. It has turned its nose up and wandered away. Your timing reply is much appreciate Donna.

I'm heading out for some Pentas for the precious!

It shows the least interest on these foliages. The brugmansia's and Sassafras' leaves:

Minutes later -- it's now on the Pentas and appears happy!!! ^_^

if it was off the Pentas already it may be ready to pupate. Put in a little bowl of dirt for it to burrow in to make its cocoon. about 4 " deep

It was odd that I found this Cat. a long way away from the Pentas in the garden. Though, it looks to be smaller than the one I raised before (a little bigger than 2"). I'll find a bowl of dirt for it. The last one I raised, it just formed a cacoon on top of the flower pot that I kept inside.

This one wandered off of the Pentas the last hour. Hmmmm

This definitely appears to be a tersa sphinx, Xylophanes tersa - see

I think it's a Tersa, thanks suunto, TMH and Donna for your help. I'm guessing that it's a 3rd instar, according to its size. It seems to rest alot and not munching away as I remember seeing the last one I found just before it pupated.

You are welcome Lily, glad you got a positive ID. Suunto's link was very interesting.
