CLOSED: Almost looks like brown widow..didnt think they were in ny

New Paltz, NY

So I have found this little guy hanging around by the roof of the porch to my apartment building. I tried doing some research but could not find many pictures like this one. I started to believe it might be a brown widow but I do not believe they are indigenous to the upper new york area. Anyway I found this site and decided to sprint out and try to get the best picture I could of it before one of my neighbors knocks it down. I really don't mind it out there, it has been keeping mosquitoes away like a champ! Only problem is that it rests towards the roof and has proven quite a challenge to get a good pic of its underbelly. Therefore I have not been able to see if it has an hour glass or not and can not figure out what species this is. Hope some of you guys can help...I look forward to the replies!

It's in the family of orbweavers, Araneidae, they're harmless.
