Victor, bite your tongue! Rain late yesterday, tried today but just raised the humidity. DH and DS are big Halloween decorators, especially outside for the trick or treaters. I'll have to find pics.

Well, you probably won't overheat, Victor! Cloudy & cool here---chance of an isolated shower---we actually need rain---can't believe I'm saying that!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I've missed a few days. Just getting caught up. Thanks, Victor. Nope, son went to the USCGA in CT. He lives in Annapolis and works at the CG yard in Baltimore. He did teach a class at the Naval Academy last year, though. Beautiful little town.

We need rain here, too. I think it's coming though tomorrow. I was hoping to go to Fairweather again this week or next at one of their Open Houses. Maybe pick up an Echie.

It's been nice sleeping weather.

Very nasty day here, wind blowing all over the place, leaves that are not supposed to come down yet are trashing my yard, the wind on the highway wants to send me to Arizona, etc etc…

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

supposed to drizzle all day here - has not started yet

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Brrrr! Cold and wet! Victor--what have you wrought on us with that August fall photo? I'm holding you responsible for the abrupt, premature ending of summer! To add insult to injury, I was awakened at 545 am by a very loud fire alarm. The "fire" turned out to be a broken hot water pipe--the smoke was steam. The fire department took 35 mins to arrive,(they are @ 1 mile away) and another 20 minutes to turn off the alarm--did I mention it was LOUD! I coulda made a killing on ear plugs! Oh yeah---Columbus freaked--poor baby.

Oh man! Sorry on both counts! Not only my photo, but my 'pool' regarding your first frost date.

I just heard the Coast Guard fired on a 'suspicious boat' in the Potomac in DC. Incredible.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Gets even more incredible - now they're reporting it was an exercise! Can you believe the stupidity if it's true? On 9/11, near the Pentagon and right near the bridge where the Prez crossed! It's even dumber than the Air Force One flyby earlier this year.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

An exercise!? More like another photo op...

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

There's a pool? I scrolled thru pretty fast--had a lot of catching up to do--BTW....those pics of your cats, Victor, are awesome!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Phoebe!

Now that the dust is settling, it does in fact appear that they were having an exercise and there was a breakdown of communication! This is mind-numbingly stupid. Yes - let's have an exercise on 9/11, in DC, in the Potomac, near the Pentagon, near a bridge the President is using, at about the time a memorial ceremony is taking place. And the Coast Guard is part of the Homeland Security Department - set up to prevent just such a lack of coordination and communication. And people wonder why so many have little or no confidence in the government to do anything right!
