CLOSED: Unknown Bug, (True Bug?)

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Please excuse the blur, it wouldn't stay put long enough for me to get a good shot. It's about the size of a stink bug, and it was on the leaf of a sunflower. Can anyone here ID this "metallic" bug for me please? I've looked through Garden Insects of North America by Whitney Cranshaw and had no luck.

This appears to ba a nymph of a green stink bug, Acrosternum hilare (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Pentatomidae - see http://tinyurl.com/m8htpe

Hmmm. I'm not sure I agree with that identification assessment Suunto. But I'm not sayin it's incorrect either. I see some resemblance, but not a lot.

I guess the nymphs come in many shades and hues?

Like many insects, this species shows a good deal of individual variation in color pattern, especially as nymphs. See http://tinyurl.com/kv38rq for five pages worth...

Give me a "Yes, what you photographed is a green stink bug," Suunto and I'll "click here to mark it as solved." ;~)

To the best of my knowledge, I believe that what you photographed is indeed a nymph of a green stink bug.

Very well and thank you very much.

I recently photographed what appears to be a very similar bug. Color varies, but do you think this is the same.

This one appears to be a different species, but I cannot pin a specific name on it at this time.

I'm not sure either fozzi.

Thanks you both for looking
