Interesting looking spider, please help I.D. I saw quite a few of these around the garden this time of year. Note we're nearby a large water-body.
CLOSED: Small jagged edges black/white spider.
This is a Spinybacked Orbweaver, Gasteracantha cancriformis. Yours happens to be the black and white variety, but they do vary in color. See http://tinyurl.com/llt4eq and http://tinyurl.com/mrxekw (from this forum) for images.
