Morgan Hill, CA(Zone 9b)

i recently obtained some jacaranda seeds and they all sprouted (i dont know what to doo with them all!)... i was wondering if anyone has had any luck attempting to bonsai one??????

Hi, I have tried several times (against advice from bonsai experts) to grow jacaranda into a bonsai. Unfortunately they have a very vigorous upward growth pattern with no significant side branching and just aren't suitable to make into a bonsai. So I am just growing my latest in a normal pot and will probably plant it in the garden in due course.
You should try bougainvillea here is one I have had for 8 years. It is a bit overgrown but I was lothe to prune it whilst in flower.
Saludos

Hi,
I have seen them as bonsai when I visited LA arboretum. That guy had them in very very tall vase/container. He told me that because they have tap root, then need a container that is tall. I hope this helps.
