CLOSED: What kind of spider is this?

Mahaffey, PA

I found this spider in my basement, in the midst of eating another, smaller spider. What kind of spider is it, and should I be worried about it being in my home? I have a very small dog (around 3 lbs), and my veterinarian said I should keep an eye on him, as he's still a puppy and will eat just about anything. =P

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

This is the picture of it. Sorry about the lack of clarity:

And here's another, with a penny in the shot for size comparison.

Also, I don't know if this helps at all, but it moves fairly quickly.

Sinks Grove, WV

This is a wolf spider (family Lycosidae), they are active hunters that sometimes enter buildings (especially basements) while searching for prey. See http://tinyurl.com/nlvjlz for an image of a very common ad widespread species. Large specimens can deliver a painful bite if mishandled, but they otherwise are harmless to humans. Ingesting one also should do no harm (except to the spider...).
