I was camping in Derbyshire, uk and saw this very scary looking fly, I have never seen one of these before and I am really worried as I have come out in bites on my ankles and head, any help would be appreciated. I took this picture (zoomed in) hope it helps identify the little bugger!

You don't need to worry about this one, it is a non-biting fly in the family Bibionidae (March flies); likely in the genus Bibio - see http://tinyurl.com/l8lhxg for an example.
