A Big Happy Birthday To You & Many More.!!!!!!!
Bonnie
I really hope that you had a great day!! Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The more, the merrier!
Sorry I missd this yesterday. Hope you had a great birthday day!
Thank you, everyone! It was uneventful, but did get some flowers at the end of the day. AND the go ahead for an order from Rob's!!!!
Birthdays are always great when you get flowers, and I bet they made a nice ending to your day!
And, even better ... the "Go ahead" for ordering what you want!
I love birthdays like that! ^_^
The hard part is, making the list! I will probably need to call Violet Barn on Monday, to see if they still have the plants I want!!!!
I could tell by being around Martin for a short period of time, he adores you and would never tell you no!!!
(it helps that it is payday!) LOL!!!
That being said, I did make an order over the phone today. I spoke w/Rob himself, unless there are two Rob's there! He said that I should have the order by Friday!
Come on!!! Fess up!!! What did you order.......can't stand the waiting.
Let's see, there should be a Ma's Cosmic Wonder . . . Rob's Penguin Suit . . . Rob's Plaid Skirt . . . Rob's Inner Orbit . . . Bristol's Solar Wind . . . and a petro-whatsit. I don't even know which one! I asked which would be better for a beginner, and he listed two different ones . . . I told him he could pick, and he said he'd pick the one, because he has alot of big ones, so I said OK!
Rob's Penguin Suit (9805) 09/14/2007 (R. Robinson) Semidouble dark blue star/white edge. Crown variegated dark green, yellow and beige, pointed, glossy/red back. Semiminiature
there is no picture on First Class yet. I love semi minis the best I think!
Rob's Plaid Skirt (9806) 09/14/2007 (R. Robinson) Semidouble pink star/blue fantasy, white edge. Crown variegated dark green, yellow and beige, pointed, glossy/red back. Semiminiature
no pic again!
I probably should be on Rob's site

Here are both Penguin and Plaid Skirt.......great looking plants!
Rob's Inner Orbit is on the same page, too
Bristol's Solar Wind is here:

Check out Bristol's Tropical Sunrise!!!
That is pretty!
Hi ,
I hope you had a very lovely Birthday Nicole , you are a sweetheart , sorry my wishes are late but I am not on line very often during the week , too busy with my short people and I get up early so am pooped when slumber calls :)
I do hope all your Birthday plants are lovely and large , I have never ordered streps from Rob so am not familiar with what he sends , I have gotten violets from him and they were pretty average :) I hope they make many smiles through the year :)
Birthday Hugs ,
Connie :)
Thank you, Connie!
My birthday present got here!!!!
Top row: Rob's Plaid Skirt, Rob's Inner Orbit, and Ma's Cosmic Wonder
Bottom row: Rob's Penguin Suit, P. bartata, and Bristol's Solar Wind
I thought the bartata would be bigger, but then, I haven't had much luck in the past with them. There isn't much in the plant files, except for 3 pix . . . so I don't know how big it gets . . . Lin - you have pix of it in the plant files . . . how big does it get? Does anyone have any suggestions on pot size, etc? Should I treat it like an AV? What I read on the gesneriad site said that cooler temps might be in order, and that natural light might be better?
Very nice, Nichole! I know you will enjoy them and thanks for sharing!!!
Connie
Very cool! That was fast! Wish I had known you wanted Barbata. They like it cool and soil on the alkaline side. Mine has always been under lights, but think I will try the window and see if there is a difference. Mine is still in a 2 1/2" pot and makes babies in the tiny corners. Being the bad violet mom I am at times, I haven't repotted, and should have awhile ago. I love the leaves on Penguin Suit!
Very nice Birthday present, Nichole! You did good!
Well, I had Petrocosmea barbata for a couple of years and it just sat there and did nothing, didn't seem to grow at all. I traded it to (I think) Raingazer. She grows Pet's and has some really gorgeous ones that she gets to bloom such pretty blooms! I almost went and ordered a few recently but .... whew ... forgot about it *grin* - I really don't need any more plants unless I get rid of half of what I have to tend with now. I saved this info to my computer when I bought my first and only P. barbata a few years ago: http://www3.telus.net/vavgs/intro_petrocosmea.pdf
Gee ... look at some of these beauties that LL carries: http://www.lyndonlyon.com/CP%20List%20Petrocosmea%20NF.html
Ok, somebody SMACK me!! LOL, I gotta quit drooling over plants!
Speaking of Petrocosmea, has anyone seen Turtlechi posting lately? I know she got a few Pet's. I hope she is okay, I sent her a d-mail not long ago but haven't heard back and don't recall seeing her on DG lately.
Happy happy birthday again, Nichole. You outdid yourself on this order and the plants look fantastic from Rob. Very very tempting..................thanks for showing us.
Nichole: Here's some more information I found on care and culture of Petrocosmea: http://nationalcapitalgesneriads.org/pdfs/culture%20of%20petrocosmea.pdf
Have fun with all your new babies!
Wow! What a great resource Lin! I have one pet, and some rooted leaves somewhere, if they are still alive--now I know exactly what to do! I'm sure it will be useful for Nicole also, Thanks!
You are welcome! I just have to stop looking at the pictures or I know I'm going to want to order a couple! I don't want to have to set up light stands again ... no room!
Just got done repotting my plants from Rob. Thanks for the link, Lin! If I read them right, then a shallow pot is good, so I used one of those cute little cups I grabbed from Gail on my way out the door! Also added in extra perlite for drainage. It was hard to remove the buds from the Plaid Skirt and Penguin Suit . . . but at least I was able to see the blooms first!
Well, ever since I started working on plants in the kitchen (one cupboard only!), I have been able to spend time with the kids while I work on plants, instead of sneaking a few minutes in the back room here and there. And you're right, clean-up is easy!
So many plants, Gail! You'll get to them eventually. ^_^
I bet you become addicted to those 2 ounce pots I get at our local grocery store!! They are wonderful...........if you want more, they aren't far from me.............(smiling)
Although having said that, "You can't really DO TAFT in one day"!
