THE GPS 5 - The Glorified Potting Shed!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Instead of cutting it how about just gathering it and pinning it back into the pot.
I use to have a string of hearts houseplant I did that with, it would get too long so I just gathered it in the halfway point and pinned it back in the pot. You could use a landscape fabric pin.
I find they have all kinds of good uses. I hold in place new iris that way, and pin down branches if things I want to root.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

no room in the pot!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Hmmm had I known I could have pinned then to another pot!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Then just braid it around the three hanger rods, it will be shorter, and more manageable.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Its like hair! LOL! too bad my GPS is not heated.. I would plop it in there and be able to hang it! Well, yano, if it got this long since spring, it will do it again maybe, that is if I dont murder it first!

Well, I best get pruning. I also need to get those chives in that tire today and have to do so before it rains. Its looking like it will.

So whatcha doing?

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Leaving for bible study as soon as my water heats for tea.Hopefully in the next two minutes or I will be late
Later^_^

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, you have a good study. There are a lot of prayers needed in this world. What book are you in anyway? Maybe I can along with you today!

I finished part of my pruning and I'm headed back to the cafe for a bite to eat and need to finish tending the herd here. Looks like the pens need cleaning and I hope to finish that before it rains.

OMG I had no idea it was the same vinca as I have. BB, mine is huge and grows into everything in its path. I rue the day I planted it in the garden sometimes. I will surely post a photo. I notice that sections of mine root themselves much like english ivy. Just take a section of it, place it in a tray of soil and cover it with soil between a few of the leaves and it will root itself. be sure the cut end is also covered with soil and keep it moist.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, I think what I am gonna do now is cut it in about 6 inch lengths and put several in a pot at a time. I will dip it in rooting hormone and see what comes. I have nothing to lose if I dont try it! I sure would notmind more hanging baskets of it for next year. Ima thinking todays the day! Got rain coming on tonite and it might get cooler.

I saw another vinca looking vine at a resturant. it has somewhat of a curly leave and the leaves are larger...dont know what it is, but been tempted to snitch a snip! LOL! Maybe if Fritz is working there, I will have to ask him! LOL!

Well, letsee, I have to pot up some wax begonias. Gonna put them in baskets and bring them in the house. I am sooo hoping the begonias will make it for next season to give me a jump on outdoor planters! Hope my newbies make it too before it gets to cold.

Need to move some hoses and roll some up for putting away.

So what are you up too?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Finished the hoses for today....

I got the hangers for the baskets.. now need to get after those begonias...have about 2 baskets to pot up.

Oops, have a couple more burros tails to finish off.

Then its off to the chicken coop.....

I am back and freaking out just heard wide spread FROST on the radio. Do not know where my head has been, I have read your preparations and thought'' not me''
so much to do and so little time
Answer: a short study on David covers a couple books here and there.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks...

Hmm wide spread frost... well the hub said there was frost in Minnesota last night.....but that is way north of here....

Going to check the weather channel!

hmmm no frost predicted that i can see....but that does not mean it could not happen.

Well, hope you are ok.

I checked the accuweather on the net and it said 38 for a low so I only did the'' garage shuffle'' (thats what the guys call it in the fall when I make them help move everything to the garage then back out every day ) on the houseplants and covered a few precious things. Just got back from hauling a trailer of stuff to my sons school 5 hours down and back.

Doncha jes luv fall! We gardeners run around going the sky is falling the sky is falling like a bunch of turkeys at a barn dance!! LOL!

I start dragging one pot in at a time mid September... usually take in my favs... then what comes comes! I figure by Christmas or January I end up chucking them out to the compost anyway and need to make room for starting seeds.

One day, we are gonna get the plastic on that small hoophouse we have and I am not gonna muss with a lot of this stuff in the livingroom anymore.

I miss my old farm house. I used to do this stuff in thhe crawlspace. I could water there, mess the floor and not worry until spring when I cleaned it out. IN this house.. OY! Gotta make like a florist every day.

The GPS turns into a storage shed by late October.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, the sedum matrona is a wrap. Need to hustle that to the PO.

Then first chance I get, do a straightening up in the GPS.

So anyway Gus, looks like more rain here. Well if its raining it aint frosting! YAY!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)
