was holidaying in turkey in our family villa which sits empty all year and in the first 2 weeks of being there we had a spider like this every day, this was about 3 inches but have had them before around the size of an adults hand, they are extremely fast.
i cant find any images or info on these on the net.
are they dangerous?
what spider is this.
This is a huntsman/giant crab spider (family Sparassidae); likely in the genus Eusparassus - see http://tinyurl.com/qoz6ts for an example. Although these spiders can be scary looking, their bites are not dangerous to humans.
thanks very much for the reply. im glad they are not dangerous just intimidating with their size lol.
