Every year these guys mess with my vine. As you can see they have almost totally exfoliated it.
What are they?
CLOSED: Eating my sweet autumn clemetis
They look like some kind of Blister beetle (Meloidae), maybe genus Epicauta.
This is indeed an Epicauta sp.; likely Epicauta pestifera, the margined blister beetle - see http://tinyurl.com/lzmxfn
