CLOSED: Just found these on my Sunflower leaves

Henderson, NV

...and now my basil.

They look nice, but would like to know for sure if they are harmful to curious young humans and pets.

Thanks!

This is an assassin bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Reduviidae), a voracious predator on other small arthropods. Large specimens are capable of delivering a painful 'bite' should you pick one up, but they otherwise are harmless to humans.

sweet.

I am trying to holistically battle ants, aphids and cockroaches in that particular area. I was attempting to cultivate a lady bug population. But I'll take the assassins for sure!

Thanks for the help.
