Found on the deck in Hunterdon County, N. J. Pretty but have small children and wondering if it is a spider to be wary of?

Looks like one of the orb weavers, but i could be mistaken

This is indeed an orb-weaving spider (family Araneidae); likely a Neoscona sp. - see http://tinyurl.com/mp4xlr for images. All orb weavers are harmless to humans.
