Cool Rocks, Stones, Erratics and Boulders 3

this thread fell to the 4th link - how could i have let that happen!

here is a picture of a boulder i got out of the ground yesterday - i was in the process of leveling out this area to build a compost and found what looked to be a stone - until i started digging - originally it was standing straight up lenthwise in the ground - now how to get it out of the hole

and here it is out of the hole - it is now mine.

not sure what i am going to do with it yet - this is flipped over from the first picture on its flat side - i will bring this up to the fire pit today using my pry bar. was hoping to chip out a bird bath in the middle although that was before i learned how big this is.

one other comment - with the humdity yesterday - working this boulder out of the ground it looked someone had nailed me with a fire hose when i finished - good exercise :)

oooh I like that one too! we don't get those here.
the humidity is bad today too.....supposed to be a big temperature drop & possibly frost tonight....now I gotta bring plants in?? ugh.

That's a great-looking boulder, Bill! I like that flat side........I'm thinking a little bit of chiseling would turn that puppy into a nice little pig rock, or some such cousin to Bud!

dam! should have thought of that sooner jumper! it is already filled in! have been out there digging into the slope to put in a compost bin - lots of roots and rocks
