this thread fell to the 4th link - how could i have let that happen!
here is a picture of a boulder i got out of the ground yesterday - i was in the process of leveling out this area to build a compost and found what looked to be a stone - until i started digging - originally it was standing straight up lenthwise in the ground - now how to get it out of the hole
Cool Rocks, Stones, Erratics and Boulders 3
and here it is out of the hole - it is now mine.
not sure what i am going to do with it yet - this is flipped over from the first picture on its flat side - i will bring this up to the fire pit today using my pry bar. was hoping to chip out a bird bath in the middle although that was before i learned how big this is.
one other comment - with the humdity yesterday - working this boulder out of the ground it looked someone had nailed me with a fire hose when i finished - good exercise :)
oooh I like that one too! we don't get those here.
the humidity is bad today too.....supposed to be a big temperature drop & possibly frost tonight....now I gotta bring plants in?? ugh.
That's a great-looking boulder, Bill! I like that flat side........I'm thinking a little bit of chiseling would turn that puppy into a nice little pig rock, or some such cousin to Bud!
Bud? who is Bud?
:)
Now you can sell the hole!
dam! should have thought of that sooner jumper! it is already filled in! have been out there digging into the slope to put in a compost bin - lots of roots and rocks
