Anyone else coming across some unusual stones? Here's a silly photo of a big stone that was dug up right in the middle of where our new driveway was being put in. It was placed across the road right next to our parking pad, and the way it was placed, it looked something like a cow lying down. Hank went out and painted a nose and eyelashes on it, etc. and my grandson and I planted some daylilies for it to enjoy lying in. How silly is this!!!!?
Cool Rocks, Stones, Erratics and Boulders 3
Oooops....typo in "erratics" in the title of the thread....anyone know how to edit that??? arrrrgh!
Donniebrook, that's funny! I love big rocks. I'm envious!
LOL, Lynnie! Glad you enjoyed the humor! We have some really big rocks here, and you might as well do something with them once you've had to pay someone to move one! LOL
that poor defenseless boulder :)
it does look like a cow with the make-up on!
oh I love it... lol!!!!
Bill - I was expecting such a response from a stone lover like you! LOL It's all in how you look at it.....defiler or enhancer? Now we're in a debate over what to name him.
Kassia - I thought you would. LOL
Hey - are you two coming to see him in person on 9/19??? Sure do hope so!!
Funny, Louise! Hope a bull in heat doesn't wander near her...
on second take it could be a bull in drag
The other utter?
tough call
You guys are too much! I think when the daylilies fluff up some, he/she will look less "naked". LOL.
that is great Louise!!
LOL, Allison! It makes me laugh every time I pass him/her. A name is a must, but no winners just yet.
i have a few name suggestions louise - what about elton, liberace, truman, or (freddy) prince. i'm leaning towards truman.
I like Liberace, throw a serape around him *grin*
Hmmmmm, Bill, LOL.... not very "farm animal" - like. That's a must. And since all the oxen in this area in the 18th century had one-syllable names, we're leaning that way. The next town over has a pair of beautiful oxen who are the town mascots. Their names are Buck and Ike. Gorgeous guys. We have the oxbow of the pair that worked here in the 18th century hanging up in the beams of our living room, so we're working on a name that would have fit one of our guys. Any thoughts???
LOL, Lynnie - throw in your "farm" animal suggestions, please!
lousie - honestly you can not have a rock painted like a bull in drag named after a working farm animal. Look at the way your "guy" is sitting and crossing it's legs? That is not a bull that is moving any beams around. Sorry.
The only other name that could pass would be rock (hudson). although a boulder named rock just does not fit. If a horse can be called ed you can call the bull in drag truman. Or hank needs to paint it again - and i do not mean adding the earing that truman is just begging for.
looks like he's just waiting for someone to buy him a drink ;)
I like Hudson. People will look at Hudson & then mentally add Rock.
buffalo bull!
All great names, but it has to be a one-syllable name! Try again!
Bill - Hank is still laughing after I read him your suggestions. Oh, LOL!
"crossing his legs".....hahaha.
joann has that earing hanging in her yard if hank needs a guide to go out and paint more - truman is waiting
He's definitely one big Hunk!! Maybe that should be his name......Hunk! LOL
i would agree with hunk IF the eye lashed were removed - since we have all seen the eye lashes and he is out of the closet so to speak, i will always call him by his real name - truman.
You are just being recalcitrant, Bill!!!

now i have to go to a dictionary!
LOL! Truman, as in "True Man??"
not really LOL
I don't think the daylillies will make him look more manly.
Still think that 'rock' is a good name.
I'd have to agree, Lynnie, but hey, even bulls lie down wherever they find a cool spot! And we all know how cool daylilies are!!! LOL
Iris - now THAT's a legitimate entry in the contest!!!
Ladybull!
Ferdinand smelled the flowers.
Yeah, Iris, I loved that story!
some friends of ours are building a home on cliff built on ledge that is just outside and above Keane, NH - they had to blast to get the foundation in. they know of my rock obsession and gave me these rocks.
their property is known in the area to rock hunters and they are constantly asking people to get off the cliff and property. if you look close you can see crystals on the stones they game me.
need to go and get some big ones!!
Bill -- If you are able to make it to our gathering, you could make it a two-fer and make a stop at your friend's place near Keene as well. We are only We are only 20 minutes from Keene. Our oxen has officially been named "Bud" after the guy who dug him up and placed him across the street. Today he' wearing a Red Sox cap and a red bandana. How can you possibly miss visiting Bud in person?? (Still writing on my Blackberry; no internet at home for at least ten more days. Having to lurk a lot!!
bud in public - truman in the closet
Louise right now i am playing it by ear - my wife's classes start on the 8th and i need to know if she can make it and/or needs my help with the new pro grans she is being required to use.
Liberace never wore baseball caps.....
LOL, Lynnie!! Bill, I understand! I hope it works out that you can both come, but first things first, of course!
