It is working well. Thanks for the tip.
fruit flies
Okay. It's not working for me. Nothing is working. They're multiplying in hordes here. The Gardener's Supply traps aren't working. The jars with apple cider vinegar aren't working. They're driving me nutzo! I know the vermicompost is a problem. I've moved it to the opposite side of the kitchen. Now I'm going to move it into the garage. Urgh!
Did you try the vinegar with dish detergent?
Yup. Stuck some palmolive in each of the jars. I like Victor's idea!!!!! At the very least it'll be an outlet for my frustration!
I know, that's great!
Keep her away from the hand grenades!
Harper, Do you have an excessive amount of fruit? Are you composting fruit in your kitchen?
I like Victor's idea! Better satifaction.
I get fruit flies really bad too. Somewhere on the internet there was a recommendation to use RED wine. You use an old wine bottle and put about an inch of RED wine into the bottle. If the wine is old or very dry you'll need to add some sugar. Because of the shape of the bottle the flies go in, but can't get out. It's delightful to see the flies floating on top of the wine instead of chasing whatever you're trying to eat or cook. Make sure you put the bottle is a place where most of them like to hang out. You'll have to refresh the wine from time to time and make sure that nothing is lying around and competing with the wine. It works every time for me no matter how bad the infestation is. I don't drink much wine so it takes me awhile to get a bottle.
Thanks for the tip!
Sorry, but I'd rather enjoy every ounce of my wine with fruit flies crawling all over me than give up an ounce to them!
Oh, you can still strain it and drink it.
But the one fruit fly at the bottom of the bottle is for virility. Or is it, senility? Gentility?
