This little guy/girl is not bigger than 1/4" long. The foliage is being removed fast from my shrub. Does anyone know what kind of bug this is? He sure is hungry.
CLOSED: A little eating machine.
This is a weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in the subfamily Entiminae. Known as short-snouted or broad-nosed weevils, this type of damage (leaf-notching) is characteristic of this group. This specimen may be a two-banded Japanese weevil, Pseudocneorhinus bifasciatus, an introduced pest; see http://tinyurl.com/n7fgjj for a fact sheet.

Thank you so much. I'll be checking for eggs on the foliage I found them on. But I'm going out with my white sheet to shake the plants to collect those little guys. Maybe my bug dish I put out for the birds will tempt them into eating the little "dears". Thanks for your help. The info was great.
