This insect (bug) showed up on my heirloom tomato plants and has shriveled up all new growth on the them. How to kill? I have sprayed a soap, pepper, garlic solution but did nothing to them. This is NOT a fly. There are no wings. HELP?
CLOSED: small white fuzzy insect on tomato plants
They look like mealie bugs. I would try an insecticial soap spray.
Helen
alcohol and water spray
Should that be rubbing alcohol?
Maybe vodka?
lol, yes, rubbing alcohol....drinking the vodka while you apply is optional.
I tried alcohol & water but it didn't kill the white bugz. Anything else I might be able to use? Thanks.
Insecticidal soap - Safers brand is good.
Helen
Are your tomatoes still alive???
if alcohol doesn't work then yes, a soap spray. whatever you use, you have to be really diligent. it's not a one time spray event.
Definitely mealy bugs. In Australia, we have a product called Confidor (active ingred Imidacloprid) which works well on mealy bugs. You might have the same active ingred. under another brand name. It is suppose to be low toxic, but I'm still really careful when using it - gloves, long sleeves and mask. You can't be too careful. K
