The color on this one made me think of the movie "Aliens". This was not the usual attractive DF that flies by, but that made me more interested in what it was. Pic taken in Concord, MA.
CLOSED: Creepy Looking Dragonfly
This appears to be a teneral (newly emerged) specimen that has not developed its full coloration. From its eye position, it might be in the genus Cordulegastor - see http://tinyurl.com/m3vprn for an example.
