ET Fall Round Up October 17, 2009

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey, guess what!!!

Better late than never, right?

Smock & I will be there, even if we head to Little Rock, again. Smock has been giving me pop quizs when we are in the truck! lol
Mainly, so I can navigate us to take that left out of ?? what town, instead of heading for LR? lol

Oct 17! Ya'll are penciled in 'in Ink'!!!

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I am coming to the round up... Terrell will probably come with me...
Looking forward to seeing everyone again...

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

ok Smockette tell Smock to trade in that truck for one with 3 seats. lol

Maybe next yr we can have one in Mont Belvieu.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Smockette...buy Smock a GPX as early Christmas present. They are the best techo invention yet. Just plug the address in and it talks to you all the way telling you where to exit etc. Let's your co-pliot sleep! LOL!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Good thought but it would probably get on his nerves! He'd smack it right off the dash board & wake up that sleeping co-pilot!!!! lol
He says he has it down now. We are not going to Lufkin! We are going West! lol

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Just trying to get an official head count, so we'll know what amount needs to be brought in the food area. I am reading 28... with the possible maybes included. That will be a great group! We all need to get over there and see what y'all might like to bring. I am waiting to see what you bring in order for me to know what I'll bring..lol

Nacogdoches, TX(Zone 8b)

RSVP'ing....never attended one before. Looking forward to it!
Sherrie

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Sherrie, we are glad to have you join us. You will leave with lots of new friends and new plants, so be ready!

If you have extras of any of your plants that you want to trade you can go here to post the trades: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1025107/
Trades are not necessary if you don't have them. You will soon have some for future RU's.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Sherrie..Welcome!! It will be nice to meet another Texan!! We have a lot of fun at the RU's... If you'd like you can put a trade list on the trade list thread and Phyllis can hyperlink it to the top. Also we have a food thread started on another thread...pot luck, if you'd like to bring anything . Just look back to the top of this thread and there's the links to those threads. Also we have door prizes.... something nice, but not expensive.. that you would enjoy getting.....LOL... please bring 1 for each person you bring with you if you'd like to participate....see you there!!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Welcome, frecklesr! So nice to meet you!
Can't really say that the door prizes are the most fun but they are definitely a good part of it! Last yr @ Jax, there was a big mixup but it all came out all right. Some one brought a little green seat that rocks, literally. I won it! I have a bad back fr a wreck & I just love that thing. Don't know how I lived without it b4! If it hadn't of been for the mix up, I probably would not have gotten that Great door prize!!!
Now, if you have animals, let me tell you that you are sitting on a door prize gold mine. City slickers & DGers that don't have animals, like me, love compost tea & bags of 'droppings'. Yesterday @ N Tx RU, some newbie brought 3 bags of llama 'droppings'! Someone else brought a dozen of fresh eggs.
I have 2 acres but only 2 pine trees. Last spring, I asked for pine needles, the best mulch you can use!!!
So, you see door prizes are not about the cost but the usefulness for gardeners.
Just had to throw that in! Since Jax will be my third this fall, the excitement continues! See you there!!!
:~)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Mibus2, you have a message on the Trade thread!
:~)

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Ken is working at the coast and may not be home for the RU. I am not sure what I will be able to do on my own

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

aww.. Maggi... I do hope Ken will be able to come, but regardless.. it won't be a RU without you!!

Currie, NC(Zone 8b)

Hello everyone,

I live in Brashear and are coming to this swap. There will be 3 in our group attending. I listed plants we have to trade in the other thread. We are new at this and it sounds like fun. Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning all I can about some new plants!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Welcome to the RU I know that you will have a great time and meet alot of wonderful folks at it.
They can teach you just about anything you need to know about plants and then some and have a fun time doing it

I sadly am not going to be there this time to meet you and your group but I know they will make you feel like a part of the family

Flint, TX

I've been posting on the trade thread but haven't given a head count. Hubbie will be in College Station for an equine conference so it will be me and my 9 year old.
Looks like the weather is going to clear up just in time!!! Yippy.

I just had a look over at the food thread. It's a good thing I'm on a diet! LOL Not much food is posted.

I'm sure there will be plenty, but the posting looks kinda bare.

Charlene

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Even people on diets like to eat.. right?? I'm sure everyone will follow through and we'll have plenty... I hope.. hehe

Currie, NC(Zone 8b)

Our party is down to 2 people. DH will not be joining us.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I hate that we won't be meeting your DH... always a next time though

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

He wouldn't be the only non-gardening spouse there for sure! That is what kept my DH away at first.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL Sheila... Lyle too.. but then he actually went around "looking" at plants last year, and came back with a couple..LOL... he does like the flowers, and now getting into a little work with me.. so it's nice and they can convert!.. btw.. was it Karen, or blkraven... that had the EE castings?? I didn't go back and look

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

It was Blkraven I think on the EE's castings.

My DH is a total convert. He works right along side me now and seems to enjoy it. He is hoping we can supplement our SS income eventually with plants. Who knows? It just might work, if it doesn't kill us first. Between the droughts and the bugs, it is a "real" job.

I never dreamed my DH would take an interest, but like Lyle, he started looking around and actually found a few plants he said I needed to get. It happens!

Charlene

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, it was not Darkmoondreamer but blkraven2 .....I edited the post. Thanks for catching that. Just old brain syndrome again.
